Landing at Incheon and heading into Seoul? Start with the station nearest your accommodation. AREX has two services, and choosing only by the word “Express” can send you past the stop you actually need.
For Seoul Station: consider Express
The Express links the airport terminals with Seoul Station, without calling at intermediate city stations. Seats are reserved, and it requires a separate ticket. It is a straightforward option when Seoul Station suits your onward journey. Visit Seoul explains the two services.
For Hongdae: look at the all-stop train
The all-stop service serves Hongik Univ. Station, the station to look for when planning a stay around Hongdae. Check your accommodation’s exact location before deciding whether this is your best stop. The operator publishes Hongik Univ. station information and timetables.
Check the terminal before buying
Choose Terminal 1 or Terminal 2 using your flight information, not a remembered airline list. For an Express booking, check the date, direction and departure time as well. AREX asks passengers to reach the Express platform at least three minutes before departure; that is a boarding deadline, not a sensible allowance for immigration and baggage collection. See the official booking instructions.
Leave room for the rest of the journey
A train journey ends at a station, not at your hotel door. Compare the walk, transfers and luggage handling after arrival. If your flight lands late, check the final departure for your exact terminal and destination before committing to the train. For airport station locations, use Incheon Airport’s railroad guide.
Before paying, save four details: your arrival terminal, the station you need, the service name and the departure you can realistically catch. Check current fares and service notices with AREX. Information checked November 2, 2026.
